This essential garment draws inspiration from the famous and unmistakable Casentino coat for men. Born in the Middle Ages as a ‘rustic cloth’, Casentino was worn by monks and mountaineers and used by carters to cover horses. In the nineteenth century, Casentino cloth became a fabric appreciated by illustrious figures such as Baron Bettino Ricasoli, Giuseppe Verdi and Giacomo Puccini. Being reversible, it is suitable for both cold and humid winter days and rainy ones.
Classic Casentino is a custom-made dog dress. The comfortable waistband, which protects the abdomen from the cold and splashes of rain, is easily blocked on the side with two leather buttons: it has never been easier to put on the garment to your four-legged friend.
Panno Casentino is a fabric still produced with the same characteristics as in the past and stands out for its uniqueness and resistance; the ‘fulling’ process makes the fabric more compact and partially waterproof, creating a ‘curl’ that gives the fabric perfect thermal insulation and efficient waterproofing while maintaining the skin’s breathability. Its most traditional colors are orange and green, which are the ones used in our coat.
